Tanzania will host the 14th International Festival of Language and Culture (IFLC) to promote culture and customs from different nations around the world.
IFLC sprouts seeds of hope, in celebration of rich diversity and intercultural dialogue, with its 14th annual language and culture festival.
The festival has been targeted to promote African culture, language, economy, trade and tourist attractions include Swahili language which serves as a national language of four nations that include Kenya, Uganda, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The event has been organized by Kilimanjaro Dialogue Institute (KDI) Feza Schools, Ishik Medical and Education Foundation and Association of Businessmen and Industrialists of Tanzania and Turkey (ABITAT) was held on May 28 this year in Dar es Salaam.
The annual celebration and showcase for the diversity of linguistic talents from across the world gave them an opportunity to promote their own cultures to their peers from around the world and to local audiences.
This unique festival drew participants from 16 countries across the globe such as , Rwanda, Angola, Mozambique, South Africa, Senegal, Morocco, U.S.A, Albania, India, Azerbaijan, Peru, France, Kyrgyzstan, Thailand, Ukraine and Romania.
According to IFLC the festival unites people, especially youth, of different nationalities and eradicates separations caused by race, religion, nationality, financial backgrounds and political differences which would otherwise bring about conflict and bloodshed.
On his part USA President Barack Obama sent a message to the festival in America saying that the rich cultures and unique histories of our global society are brought to life through mesmerizing dance and captivating performance.
“In demonstrating the traditions that make your heritages special, festivals like this one allow us to bear witness to the ways hope and beauty stem from songs of inclusion. Your efforts to unite young people from across the globe reflect the power our common humanity has to transcend what sets us apart”.
Kilimanjaro Dialogue Institute (KDI) is a Non Governmental Organization (NGO) that deals with intercultural and interfaith-based issues through dialogue.
