Obsession with closing down

Nedim Hazar

The people who obsessively hate a certain part of the society have been moving their unfair and cruel practices to a new level each day.

Some of the recent affairs in the country obviously stem from hostility and a desire for vengeance. Over the past few months, those obsessed with closing down businesses and educational institutions have turned their rage to charities. The Turkish aid organization Kimse Yok Mu (Is Anybody There), which is known for its charity campaigns around the world, is now being targeted [by the government, which is trying to ban the charity from collecting donations].

First they tried to utilize the pro-government media to discredit the organization, and then, based on the allegations published in that media, they took action. What makes it worse is the fact that those launching smear campaigns and operations against Kimse Yok Mu actually have an in-depth knowledge of this charity's activities, which are fully lawful. Anyone with a conscience would be pleased by this organization's humanitarian activities, which are carried out almost everywhere in the world, from Pakistan to Gaza. The reason behind the attempt to ban the charity is apparently political.
